Bitty is the little browser that goes on any Web page, it's like Picture-in-Picture for the Web. You can use it with Web sites, RSS feeds, OPML files, and services like Bloglines, del.icio.us, Flickr, digg, etc. (www.bitty.com)

Hi Scott I've been using bitty browser for a few months - it's great thanks. I've created a page of jobwebsites and so I tell if anything new has cropped up in next to no time. However they've now stopped working. Get and invalid API reponse. This due to recent upgrades to netvibes? Cheers MR

Hey Lisa -- yes, you can add Bitty to your blog (see http://www.bitty.com) -- you simply copy/paste a snip of HTML. And, if you want to add Bitty to a Wordpress blog, there even a Bitty WP widget (for 'hosted' WP sites, not WP.com sites). -Scott

I know I can use BittyBrowser to view a wee one in a big one. Is there a sort of 'push' function, where I can add it to one of my websites (where I own the domain) so that all visitors to that website automatically get a Bitty Browser window within it, which would have my WordPress blog visible? Lisa

Comment 16 was me. Thanks for that m.gmail.com address, I didn't know that. I tried it in BB and it worked! Thanks!

What doesn't work with Opera 9? Just send me an email via the Bitty site, and let's take a look... -Scott

btw, if you want to try Gmail in Bitty, just set Bitty to open to http://m.gmail.com -- you can also see the IE/Gmail bug by simply opening that same URL into a regular IE window, and compare that to a Firefox window... -Scott

Netvibes user: Just to be sure I follow, are you saying that you're using Firefox/Netvibes/Bitty/Gmail successfully, or are you having trouble? -Scott

I am using Firefox. If it matters, I am using https for Gmail.

pile0nades: I think that's a bug with Gmail/IE -- am I correct in thinking you're using IE? What if you try with Firefox? -Scott

I can't load gmail in Bitty Browser, I just get a blank page.

Josh: you can already use Bitty to open sites via URL -- in the pulldown (to the left of the search box) down toward the bottom, just select "Web site URL" and enter the URL. Choose "Web site squeezed" to open the site reformatted for the small window. You can also open RSS feeds, podcasts, and OPML files by URL. -Scott

how about an address bar rather than only a search?
18 | Posted by Netvibes user | 12/06/2006 14:40:29
Mark: as best as I can tell, it is saving that Search Bar = "off" setting. So, if you're still seeing that behavior (or if anybody else here is) please just email me via the Bitty site, and let's see what we can figure out... -Scott

The Search Bar "OFF" option does not remember that it was switched off. To test Switch off the search bar then reload page. It will switch back on notwithstanding it was switched off. Please I only want one page to display and I need that extra space the search bar takes up !!!

This is amazing, I really *can* (and am) use meebo inside Netvibes. Thanks for this module!

Oliver: if you open a Tab Options panel (click the down arrow on the tab) you can set the number of columns for that tab. Netvibes' default is 3, but if you set it to 1, Bitty will run all the way across. -Scott

Is there any chance we could get a way to change the *width* too? If I could, I could spread a browser across the top/bottom of my page.
23 | Posted by Netvibes user | 02/06/2006 22:26:29
Ok - you should now be able to change the height via the Edit panel... -Scott
24 | Posted by Netvibes user | 02/06/2006 18:07:49
You should ping Meebo and request a small-screen interface option. fwiw, eMessenger has them for MSN, AOL, and Yahoo (see: http://www.e-messenger.net/mobile.php) -- in any case, I'll also look into adding a 'height' field to the Bitty Netvibes module 'edit' panel. -Scott
25 | Posted by Netvibes user | 02/06/2006 16:19:44
Bigger, so i can use www.meebo.com inside netvibes =)
26 | Posted by Netvibes user | 02/06/2006 16:10:08
Alexandre: as of this writing, the height is fixed -- I'll go check about making that configurable (and so a 'height' field may show up in the 'edit' panel sometime). Just curious: did you want to make Bitty bigger or smaller? -Scott

How to change the height of the Bitty window?
28 | Posted by Netvibes user | 01/06/2006 12:39:37
Thanks for featuring Bitty on eco! I thought this might be helpful -- if you want to change the default contents of your Bitty Browser: 1) click "Edit" in the titlebar, 2) from the "Home Page" menu, choose a type of content (Bloglines username, Flickr tag, Google News search term, etc), 3) in the last box, enter the appropriate term. For example, if you choose del.icio.us username, then just enter your username in that last box, 4) click "Save" and if all looks good, click "Close Edit" up in the titlebar. fwiw, you can also configure Bitty Browser over on the main Bitty site (http://www.bitty.com), and add it to Netvibes from there. -Scott
